Travel Review: The Intercontinental Sun Peninsula Danang

The Worlds Leading Luxury Resort

The hotels location is something from a James Bond film set. Situated on a vast and lush peninsula, the sheer visual pleasure this luxury resort unveils is enough alone to check yourself in.

After a short car ride from Danang Airport we knew we had arrived by the monkey statues darted along the winding road. We were greeted with a warm smile and a fresh lemongrass juice in the most luxurious entrance, opening up to a balcony overlooking the entire bay. A sight that made our hearts flutter with utter delight.

This magical location is set on the Son Tra National park at a 700m stretch, also known as 'Monkey Mountain'. Home to the most beautiful and rarest species of monkey in the world, the Douc Langurs, you will find hidden in the overgrowth and can be spotted at sunrise. Make sure you don't leave your balcony door open though when you leave the room, a guest last year found her mini bar raided and a monkey in her knicker drawer.

Staggered on 4 levels named Heaven, Sky, Earth and Sea, each one offers an entirely unique experience. You travel up and down using the hotel tram in the centre of the resort, with panoramic views filling your eyes on your way!

We were staying in the clouds up on Sky Level and the views were beyond our wildest dreams. Our room was a mix of contemporary design and asian influence with super high ceilings and striking views from our balcony resulting in a chic and warm space. Easily making it home for a few days. With every amenity you could imagine and the mini bar just where it should be, next to the humbug sofas out on the balcony, every detail has been perfected. They even have a gold box that your remote control lives in.

When it comes to the interior design we have Bill Bensley to thank. Arty, eclectic and tropical, the whole resort (and we mean every inch!) is a feast for your eyes. After a two year residency by the man himself whilst designing it, well let's just's jaw-dropping.

The beach is a perfect setting for sand kissed toes and long walks, with a charming tiki hut serving daytime cocktails from beach boys in rice hats.

Stretching above the luxurious Long Bar, you'll find yourself at the lap Pool. This adults only infinity pool is the perfect spot to plant your swimsuit bikini body for the day. Lounge on your very own lagoon day-bed, where pool boys wait on you hand and foot offering ice cold fruit lollies, water and cool face towels. Once you've had enough swim time wind down the spiral staircase into the the Long Bar for Happy Sunset Hour and order a cocktail and get one free. Both for me, thank you.

Hosting three restaurants and two bars, boredom is never a problem here. Be prepared to feel spoilt. Firstly Citron Restaurant, offering a colourful breakfast with the best eggs Benedict we've ever had. Make sure you reserve an outdoor pod where you can dine in an upside down rice hat to feel as if you're floating above the world. Vietnamese and international cuisine is served for dinner here too.

For casual beach front dining the barefoot bar offers a more relaxed environment where you can leave your shoes in your room but if it's something special book yourself in to the La Maison 1888 for one of the most exquisite dining experiences of your life. Trust us. With 3 michelin stars under it's belt and an ambience like something from 1950's film noir hollywood, the taster menu takes you on a real culinary journey. A treat!
